By taking part in the Lehigh Valley Veterans History Project (LVVHPR), you are contributing to the permanent collections of veteran’s stories and historical documentation at the Library of Congress (LOC), one of the world’s most respected research and cultural institutions. By volunteering to help capture veteran’s stories, you are indeed contributing to history itself.

We will train and support you in the following areas:
  • The history and mission of the Veterans History Project (VHP) which is sponsored by the Library of Congress (LOC) in Washington, D.C.

  • How to conduct and record a veteran’s interview using a video camera and lighting (provided by the LVVHPR). Assist in collecting photographs, letters, diaries, maps, etc.

  • Complete the required and appropriate forms (including biographical data, video log and release forms) from the VHP field kit. Assemble and package the forms and any other items you may be submitting.

  • The Library of Congress accepts only original materials. You will need to make copies of any accompanying documentation and other items you wish to keep for the Lehigh Valley Veterans History Project Roundtable files.

  • Everything you submit to the Library of Congress will become the property of the LOC and cannot be returned to either the veteran or yourself.

  • Assist in contacting the media, local politicians, community groups to publicize or attend our monthly meetings.

  • Contact or return calls from veterans or their families to answer questions about the LVVHPR and how we can work with them to record their wartime experiences at the LOC or register their service activities on the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.
All information, training and support material will be provided by the LVVHPR. Do your part for history. Please volunteer today.
